November 2018 Income Report

In this blog, I write about what I am doing to create various income streams that come from online endeavors.

The monthly income reports detail my results. Why am I sharing my income publicly 📢 ❓ I hope to gain trustworthiness with you and to keep some degree of accountability for myself.

The reports also motivate me.

I tend to forget my small achievements… and posts like this one won’t let me do it 🙂 Apart from that, they help me to remember how much I have already invested. It’s a motivation to push even harder 💦

Read my income report #39 to find out what happened in November 2018.

What happened in November 👍🏻

November was the first month I spent working on my online business full-time.

Shift towards efficiency.. and effectiveness ✨

I have realized that even working full time, I still do not have enough time to do everything I want 😫 Duh! Regardless of whether you have a day job or not, the day is still finite and you still need to prioritize and be focused and efficient.

Based on that “discovery”, I am reviewing my operations and cutting off what’s not absolutely needed to grow my income further 🗻

The stuff I am getting rid of is mostly extra content and bows and whistles I was doing for my Elephant 🐘 Websites. This includes writing and posting tweets for each and every post, some extra post formatting, and some informational type of content.

While it is nice to post tweets and have fancy formatting, in the end, it only consumes resources without contributing back to the website growth. I am tired of struggling with the growth 😩 and I want to supercharge it 🔋

What is really helping me with it is a new version of the Authority Site System course by AuthorityHacker I bought in summer 2017.

They released the new course edition in the end of October and I spent a couple of days only watching and reading, reading and watching. I consider myself an already somehow experienced internet marketer but the course still gave me more food for thought. It was especially helpful in the area of making my business more efficient and effective 💸

Selling off 🐎 website

Speaking of efficiency.

I am thinking of tightening my focus and consolidating my assets.

Because of that, I am thinking of selling off my 🐎 website.

I think it’s a good site for a beginner 👶🏻 with untapped potential. I have some research materials about competitors and how to grow the website further. It will be included into the sale. Why am I not doing it myself? Well I just seem to have no time for it 🙁 especially given that it is in such a different niche comparing to the rest of my portfolio 💼

Working on LiveOffCloud ⛅

I did some work on my LivingOffCloud blog, mostly by reworking its structure. You may have noticed that the top menu of the blog has changed: This is the part of the work I have been doing.

I realized the blog has a few well-formed silos that stemmed naturally from my interests and activities.

Here’s what I am doing:

👉🏻 Firstly, I have renamed the categories to reflect their content better.

The top menu is essentially the list of the blog categories and that’s why it got changed.

“Online Investment” became “Cryptocurrency” since it’s the main topic I have been writing about in this category. “Niche Websites” became “Blogging For Money” because I feel it reflects better the nature of the niche website activities and is more reader friendly for the ones who never heard of niche websites before. “Banking” got turned into “Smart Banking” just because it is smart 😉

👉🏻 Secondly, for each category, I have created a hub page that would host links to the sub-pages and posts on the same topic.

A hub page is one of the essential components of a silo.

👉🏻👉🏻 Next, I plan to re-do the front page of the blog and make a proper internal linking structure within the silos.

The first month of scary freedom 🆓

As I planned in October, my focus in November was to try to not freak out since it’s the first month of my full-time entrepreneurship 😃

I definitely achieved this goal 👍🏻🎉

It was not hard. I just feel like it’s not enough time passed to start freaking out. My hopes and savings numbers are still high and the season is predictably low so nothing to worry about.

At least, at the moment. We will see how it will go closer to summer 😫

Personal life 👰🏻🤵🏻

In November, Sam and I got married 😜n m 👰🏻🤵🏻

Ok, now let’s go back to the business! ‍

Expenses➖

In November, the expenses were high because I decided to stop being cheap and instead, add some fuel to my business. I hired a second writer to create new content faster. Also, I renewed my AWS license for 3 sites. All this contributed to the final number.

Let’s look at the expenses in the details.

Expense Amount Notes
Outsourced writing $278.73 Ordered new articles
Outsourced labor $184.00 Paid a VA for doing some stuff
Outsourced images $0.00 Made all the images myself
E-marketing tools $107.20 Paid for SERP tracking, MailShake, a cheap access to AhRef tool, MailShake, etc including the AWS licence
PBN domain registration $0.00 Did not renew any PBN domains

Total $612.83

Income➕

The income in November went waaay up compared to what I expected 😍

😢 On one hand, it’s the low season for my niche websites that traditionally brings little money (and this one has been the lowest so far 😢)

😀 On the other hand, the OFX commission (the money transfer service I am using and promoting) brought in a big chunk of money 😲😀 It was totally unexpected. I was 100% sure I would be in red this month 🔴 Did not happen! I dodged the bullet 💚

😀 Also, I started monetizing my 🐘 websites with VigLink, a solution that automatically adds links to the posts and it brought in a bit 💲 already 😀

How does VigLink work❓ The idea is similar to visual auto-ads but instead of pictures, the solution adds contextual links in the text. Website visitors click on the links and either buy or not buy. You get paid for both clicks and purchases (all depends on each vendor). The benefits for me is that I can participate in affiliate programs that are otherwise unavailable for me due to the fact I am a Canadian 🍁 and not from the US.

If you want to try it, you can do so through my link 👈🏻👈🏻👈🏻 I will get some of their commission that they will make from you – but only for the 1st year.

The profit number is not that bad. I tried hard to reach minus but it again did not happen 😀 I am pretty happy!

Here is the chart with my revenue vs expenses history for the last 13 months. I use the 13-month timeline instead of the 12-month one in order to show you how the current month performed compared to the last year.

December 2018 Plans 📅

In December 2018, I plan to do following:

👉🏻 cut off inefficiency from my operations as much as I can
👉🏻 resume writing on my LOC blog (as I said in October, I have at least 2 topics to cover)
👉🏻 selling 🐎 website

Also, I have not yet written the year income report as I planned in October. I was too busy and maybe, I will do it in December 🤞🏻 or never 🤣
