December 2018 Income Report: Selling Horse 🐎 Website, Getting into Pinterest 📌, Reviving Rat 🐀 Website

Happy New Year ❄⛄❄ Hope this year will be a productive and successful one for you!

I also hope you had many fun parties during the holidays 🎉🕺🏻💃🏻🌮😋

Despite the festive period, my business life goes on as usual and here’s my regular income report, the last one for the year 2018.

In this blog, I write about what I am doing to create various income streams that come from online endeavors. The monthly income reports detail my results. Why am I sharing my income publicly 📢 ❓ I hope to gain trustworthiness with you and to keep some degree of accountability for myself.

The reports also motivate me.

I tend to forget my small achievements… and posts like this one won’t let me do it 🙂 Apart from that, they help me to remember how much I have already invested. It’s a motivation to push even harder 💦

Read my income report #40 to find out what happened in December 2018.

What happened in December 👍🏻

December 2018 was, unsurprisingly 🤣, the last month of the year 2018 and oh boy, was it busy for me.

It was the second month I was working full time on my online business and I clearly did not waste any time. I did so much including things that were on my agenda since forever!

Selling Horse 🐎 Website

As planned in November, I sold Horse 🐎 Website on Flippa.

In the nutshell, the sale went well except a fact that it got almost canceled due to troubles the buyer had with AdSense 😣

If you missed all my previous posts about it 😆, you might be curious: Why I sold it? To answer this question and many others, I wrote a detailed post about selling my first website on Flippa so I won’t write much about it here. Just go read the post if you want to know more.

Getting into Pinterest 📌

Finally, I started looking at Pinterest📌 for 🐘 website! It has been on my agenda since the last year 🙈 and finally, finally, I am doing it!

As much as I understand it, if you really want to be successful on any social media, you better use some kind of automation.

Pinterest is not an exception and I decided to give a try to TailWind ⛵

So far, I am loving it! It’s my new favorite toy hehehe 😆

I started using it the middle of December so only two weeks passed at the moment of writing this. Since that, I bumped up my Pinterest followers of 🐘 from 18 to 200+ 🤩🤩🤩 But I have to say that using TailWind made me be more active on Pinterest in general and that was the real reason why the following grew (and not just because of TailWind).

The Pinterest traffic to the website has also increased but not much since its latency is high.

Now the things are slowing down a bit, mostly because I ran out of fresh Pinterest content 😱

But I also put a lot of efforts into it. Every day, I have a time slot of 1.5h reserved for Pinterest only. I plan to see real results more at the end of winter❄ or in spring 🌿.

Reviving Rat 🐀 Website

Getting rid of Horse 🐎 Website freed some resources and allowed me to return to my other abandoned site: Rat 🐀 Website.

Its niche is similar to the 🐘 one and it means I can re-use some of my existing resources. For example, my writers are already writing some 🐀 stuff and also, I am reusing the guest post opportunities I found for 🐘. I am trying to apply the economy of scale here! 😅

This website is seasonal with high season in summer so now it’s a perfect time to prepare ⏳

Good financial year

Maybe, this section belongs better to the year review rather than a monthly income report since it talks about the whole year. However, I included it here because I wanted to explain why this December was so unusual from a financial point of view.

Overall, 2018 was a very good year for me in terms of finances. Here’s how:

👉🏻 cryptocurrency golden rush
👉🏻 good season for Elephant 🐘 Websites
👉🏻 selling Horse 🐎 Website

Plus, at my day job (when I still had it), my 2018 salary was the highest I ever had 🤑👍🏻

All this will most likely result in a hefty tax bill for 2018 💸

In order to lower it a bit as well as invest more in my business, I decided to bump up my 2018 expenses by paying off as many next year expenses as I can. I prepaid email services, bought new tools, paid for hosting and domains and etc.

Because of that, my expenses should be going down in 2019. And because of that, the expenses in this month are frickingly high 😅

Personal life 🎄🎅🏻🤶🏻

In December, we went to Annapolis, MA for 4 days for a Christmas party organized by Sam’s work. It was a lot of fun. Annapolis downtown was very pretty and was full of Christmas spirit!

On Christmas, we got each other cool gifts. I got 🐼 pajama and a set of fancy tea and Sam got a bottle of fancy 🍓 alcohol and 🍫

And also, many Xmas➕New Year parties! Now, recalling what happened during the month, I am a bit surprised to see how I managed to have both a lot of fun and also hard work!

Ok, now let’s go back to the business! ‍

Expenses➖

In December, the expenses were very, extremely high because I decided to reduce my 2019 expenses and pay fewer taxes in 2018. I tried to buy in bulk all the services I am using (and most importantly, I know I will be using) and of course, the number skyrocketed.

Let’s look at the expenses in the details.

The income in December was also untypically high due to the fact I sold my Horse 🐎 Website. Now after I sold it, the future income will be lower by $110 per month 😭

January 2019 Plans 📅

Woo-hoo, new year, new plans!

In January 2019, I plan to do following:

👉🏻 keep grinding and preparing for high season for both 🐀 Website and 🐘 Websites
👉🏻 develop a Pinterest strategy for these websites
👉🏻 publish new content on my LOC blog as well as re-write some old articles

Also, I have not yet written the year income report as I planned in October. I was too busy and maybe, I will do it in January 🤞🏻 After all, the first month of a new year is better suited for reviewing the previous year!
