LivingOffCloud SEO & Affiliate Marketing News Roundup📰: December, 2019

Merry Christmas! 🎄🤶🎅 I wish you to have a great time with your family and friends!❄⛄❄

This is my last SEO & Affiliate Marketing News Roundup📰 for the year.

In this release, we (surprisingly😮😆) won’t talk about what Google did in December! 😆 It seems Google took a break from stirring the SEO community and a few events that happened in its world during this period were not that interesting.

Instead, we will talk about:

  • How to create well-converting landing pages (always useful 👍)
  • Checking on and updating old content (and why it can be mega-important❗)
  • Some SEO learnings in 2019 (since it’s the end of the year and it’s the time to reflect!🔃)
  • As well as some SEO predictions for 2020!🌟

How To Find BERT Keywords

👉👉👉 seerinteractive.com/blog/how-to-find-bert-keywords

As you may remember, in November, Google released a big search algorithm update called BERT.

This article will show you how to find out what BERT keywords your website gained and lost and – most importantly! – how to optimize for the lost keywords.

Speaking of optimizing already written content, I bet you know it should be a part of your content strategy! You can get a significant traffic boost by doing that – and my next link is exactly about it.

Here’s How We Increased Website Traffic by 75% in 6 Months By Updating Old Blog Posts

It’s no secret that updating old content can boost your traffic. But what constitutes an update?

Do you just update or update and promote? And most importantly, how to find posts that give you the best ROI (traffic boost)?

This article answers all these questions and demonstrates four examples of updating old posts. It also gives you two ways to find the posts that are ripe for an update. Check it out!

Continuing with this topic, it is quite useful to take a check of your published content once in a while just to make sure your website was not hacked!

Hackers Are Breaking Into Websites And Adding Links To Game Google

👉👉👉 buzzfeednews.com/article/craigsilverman/hackers-website-links-backlinks-seo-spam

It’s no news that hackers often hack websites. They often do it to inject backlinks to some other websites. Owners of those websites are careless enough to buy backlinks without wanting to know where the links come from. BuzzFeedNews wrote a great investigation piece about the shady backlink market. It’s an interesting read that made me want to go and check my old content immediately! 😱

After this warning note, let’s switch to something more positive – the results of the Year 2019!

10 Things I Learned About Seo In 2019

👉👉👉 johnwdefeo.com/articles/seo-lessons-2019

Here are some interesting observations of the SEO events. The author mentions EAT, anonymous websites, the infamous November 7-8 update, and more.

Some of the conclusions might be a bit on the anecdotal side since John draws them from observing only his own websites. However, it is always interesting to read personal stories especially when you can relate to some of them (like I did).

Another thing I liked a lot in this post is the list of SEO articles the author included at the end of the post. Check it out!

And from things that happened in SEO in 2019, let’s jump to some stats and things that may happen in SEO in 2020!

26 SEO statistics for 2020 and what you can learn from them

This post has some good SEO stats about search, content, backlinks, backlinks again 🙈, the most important SEO element, updating the old content (seems like an evergreen topic!) and more. It’s informative and gives some food for thought.

How will SEO change in 2020?

👉👉👉 dealeron.com/blog/how-will-seo-change-in-2020

In this post, or better to say, in a video, Kelcey Drapp, a digital marketer since 2010, shares her predictions for SEO in 2020. One of the predictions is about the click-through rate from Google and it is gloomy. It is not the first time I see thoughts about CTR going down (I already mentioned it in the August 2019 news round-up) and it becomes more and more of the concern of online marketers.
