May 2016 Income Report: Rat Website Makes Money, Blog Makes Money And More

In this blog, I write about what I am doing to create various income streams that come from online endeavors. The monthly income reports detail my results.

Why am I sharing my income publicly? I hope to gain trustworthiness with you and to keep some degree of accountability for myself.

The reports motivate me. I tend to forget my small achievements… and reports like this one won’t let me do it 🙂 Apart from that, they help me to remember how much I have already invested. It’s a motivation to push even harder!

Read on my income report #9 to find out what happened.

But before we proceed, I have to tell you I will take a week or two of a break from my blog. I am pretty busy with my personal life and I need to get some rest… yeah.

What Happened In May

May 2016 was an awesome month that had a few pleasant events.  it was pretty much as good as April and even better. The income was great and the expenses were not too high.

Let’s take a closer look.

Rat Website Makes Money

Rat 🐀 Website stands for a website I got ready made from Human Proof Designs.

Yes, the website started making money in May! (this is one of the pleasant events). I recently posted an update about how it is doing and what I have done so far. Here I just want to show its Amazon stats for May.

Blog Makes Money

For my blog, I have a couple of ClickBank affiliate programs I work with: Ultimate Azon WP theme (read my review) and Easy Blog Networks (read my review) for PBN hosting. Knowing that my blog is relatively new and does not have yet a big traffic, I never bothered to look at my ClickBank account.

When I finally did a couple of weeks ago, I was pleasantly surprised to see that I already got a sale 🙂 Somebody bought a subscription to Easy Blog Networks. It actually happened in April but since I never looked at my account before, I did not know about it.

The other surprising part was that it was a recurring sale. Now I have about $5 revenue from it each month, very nice 🙂

In the end of May, I made another sale, again for Easy Blog Networks.

Kickfurther

In May, I got a pleasant surprise from Kickfurther, too.

As I already told you when you click on my affiliate link and open an account, I do not get money. Instead, I get an offer key (one for three new accounts), which I can use to back offers earlier than the rest of the crowd.

Turns out, they do pay money for referrals but only if you win a referral contest. That is if you refer the biggest number of people comparing to other affiliates. The contest happens on a weekly basis.

During one week in May, I won it 🙂 I do not know how many people I referred exactly but I can say that now I have 6 offer keys comparing to 3 I had back in April. My prize was $3.75 of account credit – I can use it for backing purposes 🙂

As of the business, May was also a quiet month. I did not get any total payout but I got about 20 partial payoffs.
With these payoffs, I backed three offers. Here they are:

  • Divino with their gelato filled fruits made in Italy
I think this is a very cool product with a reasonable price! I would love to try it myself. I invested $35 and now after giving it a second thought, I think I should have put in more… hopefully, they will be back with more offers.
  • Say Please Inc. with their Lunchbox Love for Kids
While I do think they have a cool idea loved by many, my main concern is that their product is easy to knock-off… At the same time, they have a solid distribution system so I hope they will be fine. I put in only $20.
  • Teadora, LLC with a variety of skin products.
They seem to be a solid business with a good product and many sales channels. I believe in beauty products as being a good business (given many sales channels) so I put in $40.

Personal Bits

In May, I was busy with selling my condo. It is not sold yet. I have many visitors, which is great but they consume all my energy. Given that, I did not have much time to work on my niche website business. Also, I will skip a week or two of postings for this blog. I need to get some rest.

I finally did my taxes for 2015. The pleasant part of it was that my accountant managed to put my big investments (as you know, I purchased two websites in 2015) as a capital loss or something like this. Thanks to that, my business had a big minus! As a result, I got a very nice tax return 🙂 I do not include it in my income report because it is based on my total income including the salary from my day job.

So, that’s what I was busy with in May. Now, let’s look at the numbers!

Expenses

The expenses in May 2016 were lower than usual but higher than in April. I have not yet resumed the contract with my VA (read this post to find out why I paused it) and I did not give any work to my writers because I was busy with the offline life.

Also, I cancelled the Hammerhead Domains subscription, because I want to try some other service that has better search tools – or maybe even a private crawler. I registered on GoDaddy Auction site and started looking at auctions… yeah, the auctioned domains are expensive 😐

I also paid for yet another month of the Lightening Rank package for Rat 🐀 Website and this was the last month I am paying them. Starting from this month, I cancelled the package. We will see how the website will go without it.

Tax accounting $168.18 Paid my accountant to do taxes
Meals and Entertainment $34.55 Had a couple of business lunches as a payment for services
Bank fees $2.91 Some fee my American bank charged me – I still have to call them and ask what the heck it is
Total $722.95

Income

My May income was awesome 🙂 It actually beat April in terms of revenue. The income exceeded $2,000 – back in April, I thought it would not be possible 🙂

Elephant 🐘 Website is going well. It has been steadily contributing the major part to my revenue and has already paid off 45% of the price I paid for it.

Horse 🐎 Website is also doing well. May was its best month with the revenue of 122% comparing to the anticipated one. It has already paid off almost half of the price I paid for it (read here to find out what website nicknames mean).

Also, KickFurther investments have paid back a bit – as usual 🙂

Totals

Here are my totals for May 2016.

Total income $2,043.93 minus total expenses $722.95 makes a net profit of $1,320.98. Only slightly behind the total number from April!

Here is the graph of my revenue vs expenses that excludes all my big investments I made in October 2015 when I bought Elephant Website and November 2015 when I bought Horse Website.

And here is the graph with the investments included. Much less pretty!

Plans For June

So, what are my plans for the next month?

I plan to continue to be more serious about finding expired domains. I am building a PBN for Honeybee Website, and a PBN audit I did recently showed that my PBN domains suck :-\ So I will spend more time searching for good domains and then moving the content over to them.

I have registered on GoDaddy Auction to see how expired domains are traded. So far it has only shown that auctioned domains are expensive.

Apart from that, I plan to work on increasing conversion on my Rat Website. It already is getting a good traffic so now it’s time to make this traffic work 🙂
