April 2016 Income Report: High Season, Rat Website Update, Personal Bits

Best month ever, that’s how I can call April 2016. Read on my income report #8 to find out what made the month so great.

What Happened In April

April was a good month. No, April was a great month! Apart from having a high revenue, my expenses dropped a bit making April the month with the lowest spending in 2016. All that made it beat the March and took its spot of The Best Month So Far.

Let’s take a closer look.

High Season: Great Amazon Business

The high April revenue happened thanks to my Elephant 🐘 website. As you remember, it has two revenue streams: Adsense and Amazon affiliate. Amazon affiliate sales happen mostly during the high season for the niche, and April is exactly in this season. Both the Amazon and AdSense revenues are at their best since I bought the website. Comparing to March, the sheer Amazon revenue amount grew by more than 35% while the number of purchases grew by 67%.

As I said – high season 🙂

Rat Website Update

For the ones of you who are new to my blog, Rat 🐀 Website stands for a website I bought from Human Proof Designs. I recently posted an update about how it is doing, and here I wanted to show its Amazon traffic in April. The website still does not bring any revenue, but the Amazon traffic is growing. In April, it got 19 clicks while in March it had only 5.

Personal Bits

Meanwhile… I decided to sell my condo 🙂 I own a lovely 2 bedroom place next to a canal in Montreal. I am selling it on my own without any help from real estate agents. The agent commission can reach up to 6% of the final price; it is quite a big sum that is worth making extra efforts to save it!

It keeps me pretty busy. Yesterday I hosted an open house – anybody could come in and see my place – and it was a blast! With all this going, I am not sure I will be able to make a post the next Monday.

Here are a few pictures of my condo – that’s how we call apartments here, in Montreal, Canada.

This is the kitchen – I bet I will miss you, my dear!

Kickfurther

In April, Kickfuther business slowed down; I got  only one total payout. It was from a perfume company named Jorel Parker that made an offer with their product “Eau So Divine”.

Surprisingly among the best Kickfurther businesses I backed so far, there are two perfume companies: Jorel Parker and Harvey Prince Organics. They both pay either in time or earlier and both tremendously respect their backers. Well, Joel Parker is in fact a sister company of Harvey Prince Organics so they share the same values on the very base level.

In April, I backed only two offers. Here they are:

  • Panda Poles preparing for the winter season 2016 / 2017.
  • Company 19 LLC presenting their new Basecamp Deluxe Apple Device Charger.

For both offers, I saw a potential in the product. Also, both businesses already had at least one succesful campaign on Kickfurther – for me, it is a very positive sign.

Blog Income

My blog you are reading now brought in a bit of income again 🙂 It is twice as much as the previous month. I really like where it is going!

So, that’s what I was busy with in April. Now, let’s look at the numbers!

Expenses

The expenses in April 2016 were lower than usual. They were, in fact, the lowest comparing to the previous months of the year 2016. I paused the contract with my VA (read this post to find out why) and I gave much less work to my writers because I was busy with the offline life. Also, I canceled the Hammerhead Domains subscription, because I want to try some other service that has better search tools – or maybe even a private crawler.

On the other side, I paid for yet another month of the Lightening Rank package for Rat 🐀 Website and it was quite expensive.

Expenses
Expense Amount Notes
Outsourced writing $17.50 Content for money making websites and for PBN
Outsourced VA $115.16 Outsourcing some work to a VA
PBN domain registration $0.00 Did not register any new domains for PBN
Expired domains $19.00 This is a late payment for Hammerhead Domains for April; after that, I canceled my subscription
PBN hosting $36.00 For my PBN; I am giving a try to Easy Blog Network plus some one-dollar hosting payments
Lightning Rank package $225.00 Paid for another month of 5 Bolt Package from Lightning Rank for Rat Website
KickFurther $64.48 Re-invested the paybacks received in March and April; read more in my post about Kickfurther
Domain renewal $32.85 Renewed my various blog domains
Total $509.99

Income

My April income was awesome 🙂

For Elephant 🐘 Website, April is the high season. Many people are not only looking at the products from its niche but also buying them. April is so far the most successful month since I bought the business. Also, it has already paid off more than 1/3 of the price I paid for it.

Horse 🐎 website is doing well. In April, the website brought in 70% more revenue than anticipated.

Also, KickFurther investments have paid back a bit – as usual 🙂

Income
Income Amount Notes
AdSense by Elephant Website $919.64 Revenue from the 1st website I bought
Amazon by Elephant Website $431.0 Revenue from the 1st website I bought
AdSense by Horse Website $148.21 Revenue from the 2nd website I bought
KickFurther $62.57 Online investments – read more in my post about Kickfurther
Human Proof Design affiliate $308.49 This is the second income from my blog: Somebody bought two of Dom's websites through my affiliate link
Total $1,868.82

Totals

Here are my totals for April 2016.

Total income $1,868.82 minus total expenses $509.99 makes a net profit of $1,358.83. The revenue (and the profit!) makes April 2016 the best month since I started the business! I think it will be really hard to beat this number anytime soon.

Here is the graph of my revenue vs expenses that excludes all my big investments I made in October 2015 when I bought Elephant Website and November 2015 when I bought Horse Website.

And here is the graph with the investments included. Much less pretty!

Plans For May

So, what are my plans for the next month?

I plan to become more serious about finding expired domains. I am building a PBN for Honeybee Website, and it already has about 7 websites. However, the website ranking does not move, and my guess is that I picked weak expired domains 🙁

So I want to spend more time searching for good domains and then moving the content over to them.

That’s why I decided to cancel the subscription to Hammerhead Domains. While being cheap, this service lacks convenient tools such as filtering and this makes my due diligence of the domains labor intensive. Currently, I cannot afford to spend too much time on it. So, it will be a trade off – time for money!
