June 2016 Income Report: Improving Rat Website, Online Investment, Personal Bits

First of all, Happy Independence Day to the ones who’s in the US!

Second of all, here is my income report for June 2016 🙂

In this blog, I write about what I am doing to create various income streams that come from online endeavors. The monthly income reports detail my results.

Why am I sharing my income publicly? I hope to gain trustworthiness with you and to keep some degree of accountability for myself.

The reports motivate me. I tend to forget my small achievements
 and reports like this one won’t let me do it 🙂 Apart from that, they help me to remember how much I have already invested. It’s a motivation to push even harder!

Read on my income report #10 to find out what happened in June 2016.

What Happened In June

It was a quiet month and was not as good as May. The income declined; however, the expenses were also extremely low.

Let’s take a closer look.

Improving Rat Website

Rat Website is a pre-built website I got from Human Proof Designs. Check it out to see if they have a niche website ready made for you!

It has been already two months since the website started making money. In  June, the traffic grew; however, the sales were not as good as in May 🙁 The sales dropped despite a good CTR.

I am keen to improve it. Here are the changes I have already done in order to increase the sales:

  • asked my writer to whip up a post for keywords that should bring a good volume of searches and sales;
  • updated the home page to show the most important page of the website rather than a list of the last blog posts;
  • added related posts to some non-product posts;
  • started A/B tests for Call-To-Action widgets on the most popular non-product posts; my aim here is to decrease the bounce rate and indirectly increase the conversion; for now, it redirects visitors to the main page but once the new article is ready, it will go there;
  • added the first comparison table, for now only on the main page but plan to add more – this should increase the conversion rate;
  • started working on A/B testing for product pages.

Hopefully, some of it will work or at least will give me an insight what to improve next.

Online Investment

In June, I spent some of the money I earned during the previous months to invest.

My choice of investment was not stocks or bonds. It was a cryptocurrency called Ethereum. You can read all about it in my blog post.

Personal Bits

In June, I was busy with selling my condo.

And I finally sold it! I say “finally” because it feels it was going on for so long. In fact, it took me less than 2 months to sell it 🙂

I will be moving to a rental place not far away from my current address. It will be smaller but cheaper and only 2 blocks away from a big park along the St-Laurence river. For Montrealers – I am moving to Verdun 🙂

Now it is time to dig through all the closets, corners, storages and pack.

I spent last week selling some stuff on Kijiji, a Canadian equivalent of Craigslist (we have it, too, but Kijiji is more popular). Made some sweet pocket money (about $300, actually). The question I had in my head all this time was: “Why do I have so much crap???” I think I will continue selling it even after I move.

The moving day will be this Saturday, July 9.

Since I will be busy with this fun entertaining activity, I will skip a blog post that is supposed to be published the next Monday.

I know some of you are waiting for my update of the websites I acquired. Sorry, guys, you will have to wait a bit longer!

Kickfurther

In June, I backed quite a few businesses on Kickfurther. Most of them make skin products and others make food/drinks.

Here is the list:

  • Teadora, LLC with their skin products
    I liked their products. The company seems to have positive feedback on Amazon and this hopefully means loyal customers that in its turn means money! An extra plus for the company that they care about the Amazon forest.
  • Rise ‘N Shine Online, LLC with their skin and hair products
    Same thing as for Teadora.
  • Fedorenko Holistic Skin Care, Inc with their bug repellent
    I think it is a great product! Not only it takes care of scaring off mosquitoes and other nasty bugs, it also protects and nourishes skin. Great idea.
  • Jorel Parker with their perfume
    This is the second offer for this company. I like them because of their great communication and that the paybacks are done in time.
  • Tonix Inc. with their tonic water concentrate
    It was a good offer with good terms and an interesting product.
  • The Good Jar with their Rhubarb & Fig Spread
    Yummy! I grew up with rhubarb stems in my teeth!
  • Elevacity, LLC with their skin products
    Because why not! :))) At the moment of this writing, the offer has not yet been filled. So it is possible I may end up not backing it (if they do not reach their goal in time).

This time, I stayed away as far as possible from clothing and fashion companies. I currently have two failing offers that came from fashion companies. It seems to be a very risky business.

So, that’s what I was busy with in June. Now, let’s look at the numbers!

Expenses

The expenses in June 2016 were the lowest I have had so far. I was too busy with the offline life to spend money online.

I have not yet resumed the contract with my VA (read this post to find out why I paused it) and I gave just a tiny bit of work to my writers.

Expenses
Expense Amount Notes
Outsourced writing $15.00 Content for money making websites and for PBN
Outsourced VA $0.00 Did not outsource any work to a VA
PBN domain registration $0.00 Did not register any new domains for PBN
PBN hosting $36.00 Paid for Easy Blog Networks, an awesome solution for PBNs (read my review to find out what it is)
Something $0.29 Something, not sure what it was…
KickFurther $218.46 Re-invested the paybacks received in April and May
Meals and Entertainment $16.00 Had a business lunch
Total $249.75

Income

My June income was Ok. it was lower than the May one and there is a legitimate excuse for that.

The main reason is that Elephant 🐘 Website income went down. The high season for its niche is about to end so the traffic is going down.

Horse 🐎 Website was doing well. It is always doing well, never had a reason to complain 🙂

Rat 🐀 Website slowed down. Not sure what’s the case but the sales dropped despite the fact the traffic increased comparing to May.

(Read here to find out what website nicknames mean.)

On top of that, KickFurther investments have paid back a bit – as usual 🙂

Income
Income Amount Notes
AdSense by Elephant Website $736.63 Revenue from the 1st website I bought
Amazon by Elephant Website $445.52 Revenue from the 1st website I bought
AdSense by Horse Website $159.40 Revenue from the 2nd website I bought
Amazon by Rat Website $13.55 Revenue from the website built by Human Proof Designs; check their website to see if you can get a ready made niche website for yourself
HammerheadDomains Affiliate $33.95 Got a new referral from HammerheadDomains (expired domains for cheap)
ClickBank $9.34 Referral sales for Easy Blog Networks
KickFurther $144.80 Online investments paid back; read more in my post about Kickfurther
Total $1,543.19

Totals

Here are my totals for June 2016.

Total income $1,543.19 minus total expenses $249.75 makes a net profit of $1,293.44. Not bad for a slow month!

Here is the graph of my revenue vs expenses (excluding all my big investments I made in October 2015 when I bought Elephant Website, November 2015 when I bought Horse Website, and in this month when I bought some cryptocurrency).

Plans For July

So, what are my plans for the next month?

First of all, it’s to move to a new place without too much stress 🙂 I have two cats and I am afraid of losing them during the moving. It is probably an irrational fear since they will be in cages and attached to them by their leashes. I also ordered tags with the cats’ names and our phone numbers. Even they do manage to escape, people who find them would be able to call us.

So the cats should be fine but I am still worrying.

After moving comes unpacking. Awww, hate unpacking. And packing.

Once the moving activities are finished, I will get back to my online business.

I plan to continue working on increasing conversion on my Rat Website. I need to put its good traffic to work!

I will also continue working on my PBN. I need to get more good expired domains.
