From Struggles to Success: How I Discovered the Best Social Media Platform for Driving Traffic
This is a newsletter I sent to my subscribers last week. I publish the newsletters on my website; however, I edit out some information from the public versions.

Where does everybody get website traffic these days?
Social media.
Facebook: A Love-Hate Relationship
The first source is Facebook.
I already mentioned in one of my previous newsletters that Facebook hates sending outbound traffic.
However, it can be a reliable traffic source if your niche has a lot of news that people want to read (for example, travel) or complex instructions people want to learn (for example, DIY or recipes).
At the moment, I have failed to deliver any sensible website traffic from Facebook without crashing the reach 🥴
However, I know people who are doing very well in the travel niche or the gardening niche. Still, they sometimes deal with quirks from sneaky Facebook.
A website owner recently shared that Facebook offered them the Meta Verified badge for $147/month, which promised improved visibility. Interestingly, just before this offer, their Facebook reach tanked for the first time ever. Coincidence? I am not sure 🤷♀️
In my opinion, Facebook is better used for monetization through the Bonus Program (if you’re lucky enough to get in) rather than for driving website traffic.
Though I previously mentioned that Facebook had paused their Bonus program, I’ve recently learned from multiple sources—including one of my subscribers 🤗—that Facebook continues to send out invitations.
Clearly, the program hasn’t been completely paused. They appear to be running a closed beta, sending out invites on a limited scale.
Sadly, my FB page has not been accepted into the program. I plan to revisit it after I sort out my current projects—I’m juggling four of them, with a fifth hopefully on the horizon 🤞
Now, back to website traffic!
The Unsung Hero of Traffic Generation
Social media has clearly replaced Google, and one platform truly stands out: Pinterest.
AI Images + Pinterest = Money Machine
Here’s what ChatGPT and I created together 😆 (I had to fix one arrow in Photoshop):
Pinterest values fresh content, which is extremely easy to produce with AI.
While not every niche performs well on Pinterest, it seems to be much more accommodating than Facebook when it comes to different types of content. I’m seeing significantly better results with Pinterest for driving website traffic.
The key difference is that, unlike Facebook, Pinterest encourages outbound traffic. The platform is designed for users to discover and click through to external websites: By default, pins (those in good standing with the platform) have a “Visit site” button!
What Makes Pinterest Tick?
For Pinterest to drive significant traffic, your niche must meet two key requirements: your content should be visually appealing while containing valuable information that can’t be fully consumed through the image alone.
The DIY niche is a perfect example. Pinterest images spark interest and motivation to recreate the project, prompting users to click through to see the detailed steps.
What I’m Doing on Pinterest
Currently, I have three websites with Pinterest traffic.
Two of them are monetized—one via Journey by Mediavine and another through Ezoic.
The third one, which I created just a couple of weeks ago, is obviously not monetized yet, but it has already started receiving a small amount of Pinterest traffic.
In my next newsletter (which my subscribers have already received 😉), I will tell you about the first website I made successful on Pinterest and why I do not want to keep it 🤷♀️
Now, a question for you!
What are your thoughts on using social media for traffic? Have you found one platform to be more effective than others?
Hit Reply, and let’s chat!
Otherwise, have a wonderful weekend ❤️
